The Cliff Hotel in Negril, Jamaica: A Luxurious Rastafarian Retreat

By Michelle Norwood

Looking for a luxurious Rastafarian retreat that’s perfect for unwinding? Look no further than The Cliff Hotel in Negril, Jamaica! It’s the ultimate destination for anyone looking to experience vibrant culture and stunning beaches. As a self-proclaimed beach bum and lover of all things luxurious, I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Cliff Hotel in Negril, and I have to say, it was everything I could have asked for in a tropical getaway.

Touching Down in Jamaica

From the moment I touched down at Montego Bay airport, I knew my trip to Jamaica was going to be an unforgettable one. The warm sun, blue skies, swaying palm trees, and the Bob Marley background music were the perfect introduction to this beautiful island, and I couldn’t wait to see what awaited me at the resort.

VIP Treatment from Start to Finish

As soon as I stepped off the plane, I was treated like a VIP by the staff at The Cliff Hotel. They arranged for a meet-and-assist with the Jamaica Tourism Board, which made the normally tedious customs process a breeze. I was able to skip the long line and begin my journey in style.

Impromptu Tour

My driver, Trevor, was waiting for me outside with a refreshing cold towel and ice-cold water. A true ambassador of Jamaican culture, he took me on a tour of the famous Hip Strip, also known as Jimmy Cliff, where he shared his deep love for the island. As we cruised through the streets, the aroma of weed and jerk seasoning wafted through the air, tantalizing my taste buds. His passion for the island was infectious, and I couldn’t wait to see more.

The Vibrant Culture of Jamaica

Jamaica is a country that’s alive with vibrancy and energy, and the timing of my trip couldn’t have been better. The island was celebrating 60 years of independence, and the atmosphere was completely electric. The people were out in full force, celebrating, goats and dogs roamed the streets holding up traffic and no one seemed bothered. Everything was simultaneously charming and chaotic.

A Warm Tropical Welcome

When I arrived at The Cliff Hotel, the staff was incredibly welcoming, and I was again greeted with a cold towel and welcome drink. This time, in a coconut in perfect island style. I was blown away by the stunning architecture and panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. The biggest wow factor was my villa. It was the epitome of luxury, spacious, and boasted a private ocean view balcony that was perfect for soaking up the island vibes.

Indulging in Mouthwatering Cuisine

One of the highlights of my stay at The Cliff Hotel was the culinary creations. The restaurants, PickCart and Orange Hill, served up some of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever had, and the cocktails were out of this world. I highly recommend trying the cannabis-infused selection – they’re a Jamaican specialty. I also had the pleasure of enjoying drinks over a magnificent sunset followed by a casual dinner on the cliffs, complete with a fire show and dancing under the stars. Truly, a night to remember.

Island Adventures

Island Picnic: Snorkeling and Lunch on a Secluded Beach

The next day was the ultimate tropical adventure. We set off via boat for an island picnic, which consisted of snorkeling and lunch on a secluded beach. The crystal-clear waters and white sand beaches were better than anything Instagram could ever capture, and the fresh seafood lunch was just…chef’s kiss. We ended the day with a tropical-themed dinner that was equally amazing.

Excursion: Blue Hole & Cliff Jumping

On my last day at The Cliff Hotel, I woke up early to try my hand a sunrise yoga session, followed by a leisurely breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon, I opted for an off-site excursion to Blue Hole, where I went cliff jumping. The mineral springs and swimming cave were unlike anything I’d ever seen before, and the water was said to have healing powers.

The Send Off

A Perfect End to a Perfect Trip

Blue Hole was the perfect adventure to cap off an unforgettable trip. And as if that wasn’t an epic enough send-off, the staff arranged a grand finale: a farewell dinner with an all-white affair. So chic and elegant. After a long day of exploring and indulging, I was happy to return to my villa for a good night’s rest. The bed was so comfortable, and the air conditioning provided the perfect respite from the humid weather outside.
